Michael Jackson & Mick Jagger

His defined Centers are the Heart and Emotions Centers, activated consciously with his Sun and Earth placements. You could say that the sun shone through his heart and his feelings were always involved with the people and his attunement with the world around him.

By Design, Michael is a Projector with Emotional, feeling Authority and a 1/3 Profile. To learn more about each of these aspects, see my book, Human Design : Discover the Person You Were Born To Be.

But here are a few tidbits that give us a look into Michael's nature : Projectors seek recognition and will often do almost anything to get it. Those who have

Emotional Authority have to learn the lesson of patience in order to find their feeling clarity that is not attached to either the highs or lows that come through their Emotional nature. Many times we have seen Michael suffer when he has jumped into some action or commitment without considering a larger picture and his naturally changing moods.

People witha 1/3 profile are exploring throughout their lifetime, trying a kaleidoscope of material, life and people experiences. Often a 1/3 profile shifts their lifestyle leaving a great variety of people and experiences in their wake. 1/3's have a need to keep moving on sometimes regardless if anyone is keeping up with them.

In Michael's Life Chart, he has a defined Heart Center. Any one who has a defined Heart, the center of Willpower, needs to be very watchful for how they employ their willpower, simply because they can accomplish something in 5 minutes that is going to take someone with an undefined Heart an hour. If they continue to press on with one achievement after another they can literally end up exhausting their Willpower and eventually straining their heart. So, anyone with a defined Heart has to be watchful of two things :

1. That they pace themselves and allow themselves rest from time to time, to recuperate their Heartís energy, and also, politely, to let others catch up.

2. They have to be very particular to whom and to what they commit themselves. Most people do not have their Heart Center defined, and if someone with an undefined Heart gets around someone, like Michael, they will often try to get them to commit himself to their causes and use his willpower on their own behalf. If Michael isn't watchful, he can strain his heart by giving too much to too many. The Community Channel relates particularly through the sense of touch and familiarity. It enjoys sharing food with friends and family and it has a winning smile. Through Gate 40, it seeks solace and the space to recuperate. Gate 37 on the Emotions end, seeks out friendship as a natural state of being, and with Line 1, as in Michael's chart, is seen as a role model for friendship. Consequently, Michael was felt as friend by everyone who met him, whether Michael had space, time and energy for them or not. Gate 26 in 'Michael's Heart Center, activated by Saturn in Line 3, gave Michael an urge to compete, to be the best, but also gave him a certain sensation that almost everyone, particularly 'serious' people, like parents, adults, lawyers, bankers and promoters would bring complications to his life.

He would often feel at home in the shadows from which through his powerful resolve, he would step out into the light and glare of public attention. Gate 36, in his Emotions Center, in Line 2, activated by his unconscious Mars, and therefore most likely an inherited trait from his paternal grandfather, nudged him to seek assistance from all available sources when he could no longer see his way forward. Consequently, Michael surrounded himself with a troupe of advisors and staff who very often, would be drawing from Michael's resources rather than actually adding anything through their presence. With two Centers defined, Michael has 7 Centers that are undefined or open in his chart. This form of Life Chart implies that he was very empathic, picking up everything from everyone near and far. Sometimes the influences of people around him, particularly the 'serious' people would have felt like an overwhelming force. Michael would often feel obliged to avoid such people at all costs unless a situation became desperate and he would have to put up with them. In another light, this openness in his Life Chart, would have given him the means to be elusive, perhaps quick on his toes, reflecting back what he picked up from the people and the world around him and demonstrating it through his movements, music and song. It is said that Michael was prone to great physical pain in his body, which gave him the inclination to take painkillers and other forms of physical relief. Typically, painkillers have a strong chemical nature, and someone with an undefined Spleen Center, as has Michael, their body does not process 'heavy' chemicals too well. People who have an undefined Self Center can be a guide or way-shower for others, yet not always have the most consistent reassurance of direction or purpose for themself. Michael's Gate 7 with the 5th Line activated by Venus gave him the attributes of a natural and competent leader. It is said that anyone who performed with him was often spellbound by the command he had of his art and the work he produced. Open minded, with a single Gate 11, the Gate of Peace, in the Mind Center, activated by unconscious Saturn in the 1st Line, inclined him to espouse worldwide cooperation towards finding peace in the world as an obvious foundation for life. Michael's open Crown and Root Centers left him uneasy with pressure that was exerted into his life from outside. Houses behind large gates and reclusive environments would have been his preference until he felt the love of his true fans calling him out. His undefined Throat with Gate 16, his boyish and adventurous enthusiasm, Gate 23, his authoritative pronouncements and Gate 33, gave him his real need for recuperation to find the depth of his own life story that he could then perform for others. His undefined Sacral with Gate 59 and Line 3 implied he had a certain promiscuity; Gate 42 gave him a very expansive view of life; Gate 3 found him always presenting new media to the world, and Gate 9 gave him an inbuilt drive to be detail-oriented, with the caveat that he sometimes missed the one vital item that could shatter any well-intentioned plans. His Gate 29, the Gate of 'Yes!' probably propelled him into all sorts of commitments, that if he had known to trust his Human Design Authority more, might well have been set aside.

That he gave of his heart is the truth of his life. With ten 1st Lines and seven 3rd Lines in his Life Chart, Michael always brought the sense of perfection to anything he touched and at the same time, transforming his creations into some new, sometimes dramatically new forms. That his heart gave out in the end seems to be the story we will ponder during our lifetimes, and probably in the end, it was the case because he never considered that there might be a limit to just how much he could give and that his dear heart could not keep up with all the fun, spectacle and delight 'Jacko' could produce.

Sir Mick Jagger

ONLY A VERY FEW PEOPLE on Earth have not heard something of the songs, attitudes and music of the Rolling Stones. There have been times when the Rolling Stones were seen as being distinctly anti-establishment, but in these times, they are more likely viewed as something of an institution. Their music may not be to everyone’s particular taste, but one must hold a sense of admiration for their resilience as an internationally acclaimed rock band for over 30 years.

One thing is clear about the presence of the Rolling Stones as a group in the world: they stand and sing and play for that most precious quality: rebellion.

In this article, we shall look into the Design of the (recently) knighted Sir Mick Jagger, the lead singer, figurehead, and perhaps most infamous member of the Rolling Stones.

Sir Mick Jagger
Michael Jagger was born on July 26, 1943 in Dartford, England into an interesting incarnation of indulging the "unexpected." This incarnation, one of 112 different human incarnation possibilities playing out here on Earth, implies that its bearer not only has to constantly deal with unexpected issues in his or her life, but also actually provides "the unexpected" for others.

For Mick Jagger, within this incarnation is a natural quality of leadership through which he can literally hold the sway with any audience; imagination that can stretch to include the fantastic; caring, to the point that everyone around him can feel overindulged; and the sheer thrill of adventurism that makes his presence so completely outrageous as he confronts anything remotely aligned with the status quo.

The incarnation of the unexpected also relates to the inherent ability to move through difficult times and shifting scenarios, showing others by personal example, how to do this. Because the incarnation relates from vision, imagination and a sense of caring on levels that deny much of the obtuseness that life sometimes seems to offer us, it gives a natural sense of reassurance to others, that things are never quite as bad as they might seem.

By Design, Sir Mick is a Projector. Projectors have a need to be recognized for who they are, and then invited for what they can contribute. In Sir Mick’s case, getting recognized means that whoever interrelates with him attunes to the qualities of his leadership nature. A real leader points out things that can expand one’s intelligence.

The Defined Channels
In his Design, he has two defined channels, linking the Throat Center to the Self Center. There is no doubt that Mick Jagger expresses a very strong and convincing sense of self. The two defined channels are both "leadership" channels that operate in their own particular ways.

The 31-7, the Channel called The Alpha, meaning "the leader of the Pack", describes someone who has the inbuilt attunement to take people anywhere, and experiment with anything, provided they give him leave and license to do so.

Leadership is a quality that can take others into all kinds of experiments within their own lives. When invited, Sir Mick offers one the possibility of entering into a wild ride with him, but that does not necessarily mean that he is giving license to others to misbehave. One must always remember that one’s actions are one’s own responsibility coming from a place of personal authority and clarity.

The other definition that he has is the 13 - 33, the channel called "The Prodigal", relating to a quality of leadership that comes from having personally tried, tasted first hand, or at least heard about every conceivable experience offered to humanity. When accumulated experiences are assimilated, Mick shares them for others to hear. Through listening comes the possibility for others to find their own place in life without actually having to live out the experiences themselves! They can live the experience through the telling. It is a channel of the storyteller, or the one who relays accumulated human experience by the oral tradition.

In the story of The Prodigal, mentioned in the Bible and other ancient texts, the prodigal is the perceived "Bad Boy" who leaves home to have his own experiences in life. During his time away, he loses and wins fortunes, tries everything imaginable, and returns home replete with experience, and exhausted. His brother, who has stayed home and done the "responsible" thing, considers him a complete disgrace and shuns him. His father, who recognizes the enormous wealth of experience that his errant son brings home, arranges an enormous celebration, inviting everyone to come and hear of the wonders of the outside world that his son has experienced. The father recognizes the tremendous fount of wisdom that is available and the importance in its telling, so that everyone’s curiosities can be satiated, and they can feel content in having heard about personally unattainable wonders, first hand.

In these times of information piled on information, there are few who have the ability to continue the oral tradition. Sir Mick seems to have honed this ability!

Seven Undefined Centers
Sir Mick Jagger has in his Design chart, seven undefined Centers. This implies that he is very "open" to absorb or reflect other people’s "stuff". I can remember as a kid, in the early days when the Rolling Stones would play on the TV, there would be a hush and then a building sense of outrage that anyone would be allowed to dress/groom/behave/play as did the Rolling Stones, and particularly Mick Jagger, in public! In a very short space of time, it seemed, The Rolling Stones were blacklisted and banned from televised appearances.

Anyone with seven undefined Centers has the ability to either mimic or, reflect back other people’s behaviors and character traits. They can also absorb these character traits as though they were their own. In Sir Mick’s case, it is clear that he has a real knack to parody everyone and everything that he sees around him, only sometimes getting caught in other people’s interpretations of life that do not relate to himself. Projectors often feel that they need access to other people’s energy and will do anything to get the attention that allows for this to happen. Early in life, Sir Mick recognized how to get people’s attention by parodying them outrageously, and he still carries this act well.

One of the quickest ways of recognizing one’s own foibles is to have someone else play them out in front of you. The Rolling Stones' performance might appear exaggerated but it nevertheless gives a clear demonstration of many of the crazy scenes played out in our own lives or in our fantasies.

In Sir Mick’s Design, he has an undefined Sacral, Sex Center, that allows him to ride other people’s energy, reflecting back to them a sense of sexuality that appears promiscuous, but is actually based in an extravagantly caring nature that desires everyone has a good time and gets good "value".

Sir Mick’s undefined Emotional Center reflects back a sensuality that is almost tangible. Curiously, many women will have projected "Daddy" trips onto him. His undefined Root Center fuels imaginations in unpredictable ways, exhibits a sense of vitality, and it also facilitates others to be able to engage in new experiences in their lives.

Sir Mick’s undefined Spleen Center can make him appear fearless, reckless and thoroughly confrontative, while all the time, he personally carries a deep concern about death and about dying unrecognized as a worthy participant in life. His undefined Mental Centers can allow him great mental agility and the facility to ceaselessly justify his actions, while constantly being pressured to stay abreast of a changing world. His open Heart Center indicates that he is very hard to impress. He has seen it all, done it all, heard it all. You have to be offering something very lucrative (like a full-blown American tour) or alluring (like a knighthood!) to get his attention these days!

A Master of the Age
To have survived as a headline star and household name for 40 years is no small feat. To have made the transition from pessimist to anarchist, revolutionary to icon and yet to be welcomed worldwide as a unique rebel with adulation and opulence is an amazing feat. Sir Mick Jagger, even though he is a little battle scarred from relationship fallouts, tax difficulties, police actions, concert riots, drug deaths and other stressful concerns, still has the chutzpah to stand in front of capacity crowds and blast them! He has been a champion for the rebels of at least three generations.

There is no question that British bands love to play for American audiences; it is very lucrative apart from anything else, and Americans can be thoroughly appreciative when they are given recognition. However, I feel in this time that there is a special synchronicity in the (perhaps, last) return of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. America is arriving at a point in time where she sees herself having to redefine an identity that stands apart from big business, vested interests and the endless power of the oil cartels, so that she can align herself with her own intrinsic Truth. America is based on a Declaration of Individuality brought about through rebellion.

The political and oil conglomerates and their partners are very similar to the vested interests of the British in their times of maintaining America as a colony, when they regarded everyone here as slaves or puppets. Since disengaging from the British power-brokers, America has always prided herself as the home of the brave and the land of the free. These essential qualities are stifled by apathetic attitudes towards controlling influences within our own society. We all need to remember the rebel within each one of us. Herein lies America’s greatness. The danger to our society is not from without, it lies in our giving up our authority to the vested interests that don’t care whom they misuse.

When we live our life according to our own Design, regardless of what anyone else wants us to be, we have a most profound effect on our world, because we are free to be who we are! No one can rob us of our truth! But we can let ourselves be fooled into surrendering our truth.....by denying our own authority and our own spirituality and presuming that others are to be trusted with it.

Right now, we have the opportunity once again, to reflect and remind ourselves that freedom is our birthright, and rebellion is the quality that ensures it. Thank you, Sir Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones! Rock on!

Born in Gary, Indiana in 1958, Michael had a single activation in his Life chart, that of Community. Even if his life wasnít known to millions of devoted fans, a glance at this Human Design Life Chart reveals the 'real' Michael. His whole life centered around his family, whether his blood relatives or the millions of people worldwide who identified themselves with Jacko, the King of Pop.
